Daan has registered the following principal legal practice area in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

  • Civil Procedure Law

Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calender year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

Daan joined LXA Attorneys in 2012 and is heading the Corporate Litigation & Arbitration department.

Daan is a trial lawyer par excellence. He has extensive experience in civil proceedings, including summary proceedings, first instance and appeal. He is frequently involved in international disputes that are settled through arbitration. Daan is often consulted by companies that encounter fraud. A specialist team under his supervision helps clients to prevent fraud, but also to undertake swift and decisive action if fraud occurs.

As an active member of several international organizations Daan disposes of an extensive international network of clients and foreign colleagues.

Daan has successfully completed the Grotius specialty course “Company and liability law”. This course is the most extensive and prestigious postgraduate course in the field of contract law.

Daan's recent work 
  • Attorney for claimant in arbitral proceedings under the ICC rules in Osaka (Japan) on the termination of an international distribution agreement
  • Advises and litigates on behalf of a company producing chemicals in a (product)liability matter. Damages were suffered in multiple jurisdiction, also outside of the EU. The matter involves different aspects of international private and procedural law
  • Investigation proceedings at the Enterprise Division of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal to protect the interests of a minority shareholder in a family run construction company
  • Litigation in appeal for claimant. The claim originates from a breach of representations and warranties under a purchase agreement for the sale of a company involved in the production of sweets
